Waterlelies (Water Lilies)

I love the leaves of Water Lilies and how they stand up quite straight in the water in various funny ways. This is my first larger linocut, where I also used different knive sizes for the first time. The wonderful wonky leaves deserve a rough cut, for the thin thready roots floating on the surface I used the thinnest knive. Pressing ink also is a good match with rendering duckweed-- the little white specks peeping through here and there make it look like the real thing.

Two colours of green ink mixed on 130 grams Simili Japon paper (made in Holland), 24x34 cm (slightly larger than A4). Signed and numbered, limited edition of 20.
